Job Description

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field Required Skills for the Cooling Design Engineer
  • 3-4 years' experience required
  • Knowledge of cooling systems technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges
  • Intermediate knowledge of a cooling component/system development lifecycle: from customer engagement, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to design development, testing and product delivery
  • Intermediate ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issues
  • Basic knowledge of thermodynamics, thermal simulation and structural analysis
  • High knowledge of Creo 3D modeling tools, Teamcenter processes and print creation/releasing
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • High ability to work independently and manage one's timePreferred Skills
  • Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation
Cooling Design Engineer Overview:
The main function of a Cooling Design Engineer is to apply the principles of mechanical engineering design, development, testing, and evaluation of the hardware and systems that make cooling systems work. A typical Design Engineer analyzes customer cooling requirements, and then designs, tests, and develops hardware to meet those needs.

Responsibilities
  • Create new or modify existing cooling components or systems based on customer/project requirements through extensive collaboration
  • Work as part of a project team to coordinate component/system development and determine project scope and limitations
  • Review project requests describing customer needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project
  • Performs routine changes to computerized schematics or drawings
  • Creates views of objects in 2 and 3 dimensions; creates perspective drawings and orthogonal views
  • Generates specifications for parts or components with Creo CAD software
  • Builds three-dimensional models with basic materials
  • Communicates with cross-function engineering teams (internally and externally) to understand various requirements of product design
  • Tests and evaluates alternative means of production being considered for use
  • Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a product
  • Assists in building a complex prototype of product
  • Reuses design components via reusable libraries following standard procedures
  • Uses Creo CAD to perform intermediate drafting such as wire frames, solid objects and array of objects, including but not limited to fabrications, castings and modular assemblies
