Machining Engineer

Machining Engineer Job Description As a Machining Engineer, you will initially split your time between the shop floor and programming or office tasks. This role will evolve into a focus on larger projects and new process development, providing an opportunity for growth and advancement. Responsibilities Spend 50% of your time on the shop floor and 50% on programming or office tasks. Manage new machinery projects and evaluate machine loads. Troubleshoot and redesign complex CNC machining processes. Collaborate with quality, production, and other engineering departments to support plant operations. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of experience in CNC machining process engineering or CNC programming. Proficient in CAM software, with SolidCAM preferred and SolidWorks experience required. Advanced understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Swiss-style CNC programming. Experience supporting new product introduction or process validation. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience in high-volume or precision manufacturing environments. Work Environment Work hours are from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional Saturday work once a quarter, planned in advance. You will work alongside quality, production, and engineering departments. The facility has around 100 employees and operates as a union shop, though this will not directly affect your duties. The manufacturing and machining areas may expose you to oil, coolant, and metal residue. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bluffton, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.27/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
