Competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and paid holidays Sterling Engineering is partnering with a leading manufacturer in thermoformed and thermo-packaging solutions, to support the growth of their design engineering team. This Design Engineer role is based at the Madison, WI location and supports product and concept development with a strong focus on tooling and machine design. This position offers hands-on engineering exposure, collaboration across manufacturing and tooling teams, and long-term career growth within a stable, innovative organization. Responsibilities Support product and concept design initiatives for thermoformed and thermo-packaging products Design and develop tooling, fixtures, and machine components to support manufacturing processes Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks Collaborate with manufacturing, tooling, and quality teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective Assist with design iterations, engineering changes, and continuous improvement initiatives Participate in prototype development, testing, and design validation activities Maintain accurate engineering documentation, BOMs, and revision control Support cross-functional teams with technical problem-solving and design optimization Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline 2-5+ years of design engineering experience in a manufacturing environment Thermoforming / thermo-packaging experience Proficiency with SolidWorks (3D modeling and detailed drawings) Experience with tooling and machine design strongly preferred Understanding of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturability principles Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments Sterling Engineering is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.Similar remote jobs
