We are seeking an experienced Swiss Lathe machinist to join our team as a Manufacturing Engineer and help drive operational success on the production floor.
Position Overview:
This position requires a thorough understanding of machining with CNC Swiss style lathes and Swiss lathe tooling. Expereince is required. A large responsibility in the role is troubleshooting and resolving issues with production parts on Swiss Lathes. You must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, hands-on, and can work with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshooting out of tolerance parts or machine issues on Citizen CNC Swiss Lathes. (up to 50% of time)
  • Perform change over or setup process efficiently and dial in parts to produce First Article pieces for quality inspection.
  • Read and follow routing instructions, inspection reports, blueprints, specifications, and quality control plans to produce finished parts.
  • Edit CNC programs or create CNC programs as needed. (Autodesk PartMaker, Elkhart Wizard, Win-CNC)
  • Review non-conformance parts to determine rework method and instructions where applicable. Participate with Root Cause Corrective Action.
  • Operate Benchtop lathes and general shop equipment including saws, belt sanders, grinding and buffing wheels as needed.
  • Measure parts as required using calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, inspection systems, and a variety of gages to ensure accuracy.
  • Create BOM of tooling in ERP for parts produced.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
  • Accurately read drawings and blueprints. Proficient understanding of GD&T.
  • Proficiency in using a variety of common inspection tools and measuring devices including calipers, gages, optical comparators, and micrometers.
  • Basic understanding of Swiss lathe troubleshooting (chatter, poor surface finish, dimensional drift, run out, straightness, tool wear, etc.)
  • General knowledge of Machine Tooling
  • General knowledge of speeds and feeds
  • Advanced knowledge of Lathe tooling behavior with respect to the material
  • Read, interpret, and modify existing CNC programs
Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of CNC multi axis Swiss Lathes (will be working on L12, L20, M32, and Miyano Citizen Models)
  • Proficiency with Mitsubishi controls and G & M code.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Work in a high change over environment (Job Shop)

  • 6AM-2:30PM (5 days per week including some partial weekends)
