Position Overview:
We are seeking a results-driven Manufacturing Process Improvement Engineer to support aerospace manufacturing operations in Indianapolis by driving measurable improvements in Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) performance. This role focuses on applying data-driven manufacturing engineering methods to identify root causes of production issues and implement sustainable process improvements. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with hands-on experience applying statistical tools, structured root cause analysis, and DMAIC methodologies to improve manufacturing performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and execute manufacturing improvement projects focused on Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) performance. Collect, analyze, and interpret production data to identify process issues and drive fact-based decision making. Apply structured root cause analysis tools including 5 Why, Fishbone (Ishikawa), Fault Tree Analysis, and 8D problem solving. Utilize statistical analysis and process control tools such as SPC, capability studies, regression analysis, ANOVA, and Design of Experiments (DOE). Partner with Quality, Production, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to implement improvements that reduce waste, improve cycle times, and increase process capability. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to validate improvements and ensure sustained operational gains.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of aerospace manufacturing experience with strong background in manufacturing engineering, process optimization, and production support. Demonstrated expertise applying structured problem-solving and root cause analysis methods including 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams, Fault Tree Analysis, and 8D. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including experience using statistical analysis tools and data-driven decision making. Hands-on experience with statistical methods such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), capability studies, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA / Gage R&R), regression analysis, or Design of Experiments (DOE). Proven track record of delivering measurable operational improvements such as scrap reduction, yield improvement, cycle time reduction, or throughput gains. Bachelor"s Degree in Engineering or related technical field. Due to the nature of the work U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience applying DMAIC methodology in manufacturing process improvement initiatives. Familiarity with Lean manufacturing tools such as Kaizen, 5S, and Value Stream Mapping. Experience working within AS9100 or aerospace quality management systems. Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).
