Job Description

Manufacturing Quality Engineer, Joining & Regulatory Overview We are seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer with strong expertise in regulatory compliance and bonding processes. This role leads audit readiness, product safety alignment, and bonding process development across glass, glass-filled polypropylene (PP-GF), and urethane systems. You'll play a key role in ensuring consistent bond integrity through robust testing methods while driving a quality-first, 5S-focused culture on the production floor. Key Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance & Auditing Plan and execute internal audits aligned with government and industry standards (FMVSS, OSHA, EPA/EHS). Interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into plant-level procedures, work instructions, and control plans. Maintain audit readiness through documentation control, traceability, training records, and CAPA completion. Bonding Engineering (Glass, PP-GF, Urethane) Develop and validate bonding processes for glass, PP-GF, and urethane systems. Define process parameters including surface prep, primers, cure conditions, and environmental controls. Establish standards to ensure cohesive bond performance and minimize adhesive failure risk. Test Methods & Verification Develop and maintain validation methods such as wet maps, knife/peel tests, lap shear, and coupon testing. Implement incoming and in-process quality checks using SPC and defined reaction plans. Lead measurement system analysis (MSA) and gauge R&R for bonding evaluation. Problem Solving & Cross-Functional Leadership Lead structured problem solving using tools like 5-Why, Ishikawa, and 8D. Drive containment, root cause identification, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). Partner with production, maintenance, and suppliers to strengthen process control and defect prevention. Support product safety activities, including issue escalation and recall-related actions. Quality Culture & KPIs Maintain strong 5S practices and audit performance in bonding and inspection areas. Define and track KPIs including first pass yield, adhesion failures, rework, and audit findings. Drive continuous improvement and communicate performance through tier meetings and reporting tools. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent advanced degree experience. Hands-on experience with bonding processes and validation methods (glass, PP-GF, urethane). Strong background in auditing, compliance, and CAPA execution. Automotive or regulated manufacturing experience preferred (IATF 16949, ISO 9001). Experience with supplier quality and incoming material validation is a plus. Skills Experience with ERP/MRP systems, SPC, MSA, and document control. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills. Comfortable working with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) for KPI reporting. Effective communicator with strong teamwork and leadership ability. Self-motivated and adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving environment. #ZR #IND1
