Job Description

Centennial is seeking an API Design Engineer to join a specialized engineering firm in Geismar, Louisiana delivering practical, real‑world engineering and testing services for process equipment. This firm focuses on shop‑built tanks, ASME code vessels, API storage tanks, metallurgical and welding engineering, and more. This API Design Engineer is ideal for an engineer who thrives on solving real‑world challenges, values code‑compliant design, and enjoys collaborating with field teams and fabricators.
Responsibilities:
Design and analyze storage tanks in accordance with
API 650, API
620, and API 653 standards. Perform engineering calculations for shells, roofs, bottoms, nozzles, foundations, and loading conditions (wind, seismic, hydrostatic, settlement, etc.). Support repair, alteration, rerating, and fitness‑for‑service evaluations for existing tanks. Develop clear, accurate engineering and fabrication drawings using industry‑standard design software. Collaborate with inspectors, fabricators, clients, and field personnel to ensure constructible, practical solutions. Prepare and review technical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and internal quality standards. Perform ASME Section VIII Div. 1 pressure vessel design as needed. Participate in site visits to validate field conditions and support troubleshooting. Qualifications 5-10 years of experience designing API 620, 650, and 653 storage tanks. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering . PE license preferred (or ability to obtain ). API 653 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Proficiency with API design software such as Technosoft, ITS, Compress (required). Experience with modeling tools such as Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks (required). Strong communication skills and a professional, collaborative approach. Self‑motivated, organized, and eager to learn and contribute.
