Manufacturing Engineer Location :
Boston, MA FTE Key Responsibilities:
NPI & Process Development:
Lead process flow planning, line layout inputs, and workstation design from early concept through high-volume production ramp-up.
Standardization & Documentation:
Create and optimize SOPs, detailed work instructions, process flow diagrams, routings, and launch readiness checklists.
DFM & Tolerancing:
Collaborate with Product Engineering to provide Design for Manufacturability/Assembly (DFM/DFA) feedback and guide GD&T/tolerance stack-up practices.
Quality & Risk Control:
Lead PFMEAs, control plans, APQP/PPAP inputs, process validation trials, and structured root-cause analyses (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone).
Automation & Controls:
Partner with Equipment and Controls teams to deploy and validate tooling, fixtures, error-proofing (Poka-Yoke), sensors, and safety systems.
Logistics & Material Flow:
Integrate Plan for Every Part (PFEP) strategies, sequencing, packaging, and line-side material delivery configurations.
Continuous Improvement:
Troubleshoot shop-floor bottlenecks and optimize cycle times, yield, first-time quality, and OEE using Lean and Six Sigma tools.
Basic Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering.
Experience:
7+ years in manufacturing engineering, industrialization, or production launch.
Environment:
Direct experience in large-scale discrete manufacturing (e.g., automotive, battery, energy, aerospace, or heavy equipment).
Collaboration:
Proven track record working with cross-functional teams spanning Quality, Facilities, Supply Chain, and EHS.
Preferred Qualifications:
Greenfield Exposure:
Direct experience supporting greenfield facility development, equipment installation, commissioning, and operational handover.
Technical Mastery:
Deep knowledge of machining, assembly, fabrication, welding, surface treatments, or testing.
Systems & Data:
Familiarity with
MES, SCADA, PLM, ERP
(SAP), and manufacturing execution data analysis (OEE, Takt, line-balancing).
