Fiber Materials Inc. | solutions for the most extreme places in the universe FMI's manufacturing facility has been a leading solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. The focus in Maine is on multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as: thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips as well as rocket motor throats and nozzles. Our materials are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and the heat shield for NASA's Mars 2020 mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for U.S. military ground vehicles.
Your role:
FMI is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to install and qualify manufacturing equipment in our newly built, state-of-the-art facility in Scarborough, ME. As the Manufacturing Engineer , you will be a lead equipment engineer in this composite manufacturing facility as you will oversee and execute various equipment projects through all qualification standards. These include, but are not limited to: Installation, Operational, and Performance Qualifications (IQ, OQ, PQ) with minimum oversight. Being the Manufacturing Engineer requires excellent time management skills as you will also learn our manufacturing processes, transitioning into our manufacturing team after the building fit-up and qualifications are completeJob Responsibilities:
Support process equipment selection, assembly, and acceptance testing ExecuteIQ, OQ, PQ
schedules on time Communicate between vendors, customers, and production personnel as the facility graduates from qualification to production Motivational team player Provide technical support in the manufacturing of specialized composite materials Establishing manufacturing procedures for production, including recommended equipment maintenance intervals Identify, design, and implement process improvements using Lean/Six Sigma tools Support nonconformance programs and implement actions to prevent recurrences Write reports and present oral presentations to management, production team and customers Develop and train production operators on installed procedures, systems, and equipment Work and train with Manufacturing Engineers to become a fully trained Manufacturing Engineer in the Antenna Window program Enforce clean room environments and 6S to prevent contamination Knowledge and ability to read and understand electrical drawings, automation schematics, and P&IDs What we need from you: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or related discipline 8+ years of manufacturing experience Experience in machine scheduling and capacity reporting Demonstrated results in technical problem solving, process development, and supporting customer-focused programs Experience with industrial tools and equipment Have a thorough and professional level of knowledge in clean room environments- FOD and contaminant elimination (Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control P (HACCP), Better Process Control)Preferred:
Knowledge in networking security principles andCMMC 2.0
