Full Job Description Job Title:

Mechanical Design Engineer Reports to: Engineering Manager SUMMARY Responsible for working with the Engineering Department to ensure satisfactory results on all internal & external projects. Must work well with the management team, as well as independently, to conduct improvements in all areas of the company. Must determine & implement best practices and methods for fabrication based on experience & knowledge.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.

Assist new product launches and manufacturing process setup. 2. Collaborate with management team to optimize existing products, fixtures, equipment, and processes. 3. Drive continuous improvement and optimization of all production processes. 4. Ensure that all safety measures and protocol is followed according to the company and MIOSHA standards. 5. Provide direction to production supervisors and/or team leads. 6. Initiate improvements in current manufacturing methods and processes to improve part quality, schedule performance, and to reduce manufacturing cost. 7. Conduct formal root cause analysis and corrective actions on quality complaints and process inefficiencies. 8. Interact with customers as required for new product development and product improvement. 9. Support production team with product builds and designs. 10. Design and implement processes, fixtures, and other equipment for new product launches and prototypes. 11. Create, maintain, and document Engineering Change Request and Engineering Change Notice processes. 12. Use SolidWorks proficiently to design new drawings and/or edit existing drawings as needed. 13. Perform and complete all PPAP requirements as needed. 14. Schedule and lead internal and external

ISO:

9001 audits and ensure standards are being met.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties as assigned. Help in other areas as needed.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Proficient with SolidWorks. Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, machinery and performance metrics normally acquired through five or more years of manufacturing and supervisory experience or education. Ability to identify issues, work within a team environment to find solutions and implement changes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organization, and decision-making skills. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers. Strong working knowledge of ERP systems and software. Advanced understanding and interpretation of print reading.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include, but not limited to; eye safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
