Job Description

Controls Engineer - Industrial Automation & Custom Machinery Join a growing engineering team designing and developing custom automated equipment used across a variety of manufacturing environments. This role offers the opportunity to work on projects from concept through commissioning, combining controls programming, electrical design, machine development, and hands-on troubleshooting. You'll work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver custom machinery, automation systems, and production equipment while gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle. What You'll Be Doing Develop and modify PLC, HMI, and motion control programs for custom automated equipment Design and support electrical control systems for machinery and manufacturing systems Create and maintain electrical schematics, panel layouts, BOMs, and engineering documentation Participate in machine startup, debugging, testing, and validation activities Troubleshoot controls, electrical, and automation issues during machine build and commissioning Support new machine development, feature enhancements, and continuous product improvements Work with technologies including robotics, vision systems, safety controls, and industrial networks Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams throughout project execution Document controls strategies, software revisions, and engineering changes What We're Looking For Experience with PLC programming and industrial automation systems Knowledge of HMI development and machine controls Understanding of electrical design principles and industrial control hardware Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong communication skills and willingness to learn new technologies Preferred Experience Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, B&R, or similar PLC platforms Servo and motion control systems Machine vision technologies such as Cognex or Keyence Electrical CAD software and schematic development Machine build, startup, commissioning, or manufacturing automation experience Engineering degree or equivalent technical background Why Join This is an opportunity to join a business experiencing significant growth and investing heavily in automation and new product development.
