Job Description:
Purpose of the Job Ensure manufacturing processes are capable of delivering Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and Productivity (SQDIP) targets. Essential Job Responsibilities Establish and sustain capable manufacturing processes. Design, install, and modify equipment and fixtures as needed to ensure SQDIP targets are met. Research, recommend and launch new manufacturing equipment and processes. Work cross functionally to develop the business case and manage the installation and validation of new capital equipment. Review new production parts to ensure current processes can manufacture to specification and expected quality and cycle time. Provide feedback and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) as needed to improve manufacturability of parts and improved assembly methods. Lead process design efforts using tools such as PFMEA and PPAP. Determine product flow using Lean tools and principles. Establishes resource requirements and material flow using industrial engineering techniques and internal standards to establish optimum productivity. Eliminate inefficiencies and reduce manufacturing costs through analysis of various product structures and processes. Reduce cycle time, down time, and changeover time by improving processes, equipment, and/or tooling. Troubleshoot production and quality problems as needed. Apply the scientific method using DMAIC or similar to reduce variation and/or to improve capability. Develop work standards, (Poka Yoke) and other in station controls (Jidoka) to prevent defects. Lead efforts to improve process flow, work standards, tooling, fixtures and manufacturing methods. Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field 2+ years of experience in an ME or similar manufacturing support role Experience with Lean manufacturing systems, techniques, and tools Knowledge of materials, machine dynamics, etc. Technically current in machine design and/or equipment engineering with strong understanding of controls (i.e. operating logic) and ability to integrate into process equipment.
