Lead Process Engineer - Additive Manufacturing Rochester Hills, MI Our firm has been exclusively engaged by a large industrial manufacturer seeking a Lead Process Engineer to work on the bleeding edge of metal 3-D printing. You'd be a key team member, taking their additive manufacturing in new and innovative directions. Position Description In this role, you'll be the company pioneer in the development, optimization, and industrialization of new additive manufacturing processes across production. You will ensure consistent material properties, dimensional accuracy, and cost-effective manufacturing, specializing in powder-based metallurgy for copper and advanced alloys. You'll be a hands-on engineer on the production floor, working with the equipment to ensure proper implementation and improvement.
Responsibilities include:
Develop and optimize binder jetting process parameters for the production chain, including hands-on troubleshooting of the printers, depowdering systems, and furnaces. Lead improvements in areas such as green density, shrinkage control, and distortion mitigation, as well as own process validation, qualification, and capability studies. Support and lead production development activities, troubleshoot and resolve defects, DFAM, feasibility assessments, and development of scalable design guidelines. Qualifications Bachelors or Masters Degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience in additive manufacturing/3D printing for metal products (powder, sinter, etc.). Experience in Metal Binder Jetting (MBJ) is preferred, though Laser Power Bed Fusion (LPBF) is also good. Strong hands-on background with the equipment, including troubleshooting and operation. Good knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOEs) along with knowing the fundamentals of quality and statistical analysis. Excellent communication skills, as you'll be working with colleagues from multiple disciplines and departments.
Compensation:
$105-125K/year base salary plus bonus. This is a direct-hire position, with a full benefit package. Relocation assistance is available but not visa sponsorship.
