CNC Grinding / Precision Manufacturing / Machine Building About the Role We are supporting a specialist manufacturer of high-precision CNC grinding machines looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team in Spring Lake, Michigan. This role is focused on improving manufacturability from concept through build, supporting production and assembly teams, developing work instructions, troubleshooting technical issues and helping drive process improvements across machine build projects. The position would suit a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer with experience in CNC machining, machine building, precision manufacturing or complex mechanical assembly environments. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement and optimize manufacturing processes for CNC machine components and full system assemblies. Work with design engineering to ensure products are designed for manufacturability and assembly. Support production and assembly teams during machine builds, prototype development and NPI. Troubleshoot assembly issues, dimensional inaccuracies, manufacturing errors and process inefficiencies. Design and develop custom fixtures, jigs and tooling to improve assembly and reduce setup time. Create and maintain work instructions, SOPs and manufacturing documentation. Develop user manuals, operating guides and maintenance procedures for CNC machines. Provide technical support during machine assembly, commissioning and field service activity. Support continuous improvement projects focused on quality, productivity and cost reduction. Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, supply chain, service and suppliers. Skills & Experience Experience in manufacturing engineering within CNC machining, machine building, precision manufacturing or mechanical assembly. Ability to create and interpret technical drawings, assemblies, BOMs and technical documentation. Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD. Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D. Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings. Hands-on experience supporting production environments. Experience troubleshooting machining, assembly and manufacturing issues. Understanding of CNC machining processes, ideally including multi-axis machining. Knowledge of design for manufacturability. Root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action experience. Strong communication skills and confidence working closely with the shop floor. Self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects or tasks. Education Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field is preferred. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
