Design Engineer Description:
Thompson Retractor has an opportunity for a Design Engineer . The Design Engineer is responsible for the design of Surgical Instruments and the creation of documentation in the support of quality systems. We're an energetic company and looking for a passionate individual to join our organization and enhance our data foundation. Thompson is employee-owned, and vested employees automatically receive company shares.What You'll Do:
Using CAD software (Solidworks), create product designs to meet product and marketing specifications. Communicate with customers, sales, marketing and independent entities to gain knowledge of product design requirements Develop protocols for design verification and validation (V&V). Complete corresponding test reports. Lead DFMEAs and Participate in risk analysis to determine required testing for design V&V. Oversee prototype fabrication internally and at suppliers. Develop design documentation for the manufacture of product including drawings, BOM's, product specifications and product validations. Develop innovative CAD techniques to streamline design and production processes. Work within project plans to execute assigned projectsThis Might Describe You:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree or experience. Intermediate to advanced 3D CAD skills (Solidworks - Modeling & Drawings) Rapid prototyping knowledge. Good understanding of Design Controls in a regulated industry Experience drafting test protocols and test reports Demonstrated ability to create concepts from brief customer requirements Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent research, problem-solving and learning skills Must be able to work in a team environment, execute responsibilities with minimal direct supervision, and have a high attention to detail Comfortable working in a busy environment with frequent interruptions Must be aware of hazards within the company; adhere to quality and safety standards established by FDA and other regulatory agenciesMisc:
Ability to travel (approximately 10%) to vendor and customer locations with valid driver's license and by air. Willingness to complete credentialing requirements needed to be in Operation Room environment (Vaacines, TB Tests, Drug Screens, etc.)Sign Non-Disclosure and Non-Compete Agreements EEO/AA Job Type:
