Evaluates shop floor machines and tools. Understands Lean manufacturing concepts and applies them to shop floor processes. Provides support to Technical Process Engineers (TPE) and production personnel in developing and documenting processes that provide the highest part quality at the least cost. Drives efficiency improvements on the production floor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities General process documentation work.

Tasks:

Develop and utilize best practices on the shop floor. Maintain an efficient system of generating process information (OIS documents) and deliver it to internal customers.

End Result:

Increased production efficiency through the use of documented, standardized processes. Est. time @ 70% Evaluate and update routings and rates.

Tasks:

Determine processes that need rate adjustments and follow through with the correct TPE.

End Result:

Ensures accurate job information in Vantage. Est. time @ 15% Team member on various lean improvement projects.

Tasks:

Actively involved in Lean events, internal audits, action items, and various engineering projects.

End Result:

Continual improvement production processes. Est. time @ 15% Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering preferred 3-7+ years in sheet metal fabrication or metal manufacturing Strong knowledge of: Laser cutting CNC punch Press brakes Welding and assembly Tolerance stack-up GD&T Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) Experience with nesting/CAM software ERP/MRP experience strongly preferred Lean / Six Sigma experience preferred Strong project management and floor communication skills Ideal Candidate Profile Hands-on and comfortable on the shop floor Strong urgency and bias for action Able to work cross-functionally with operators, supervisors, and customers Commercially minded (margin + throughput focused) Naturally process-oriented and data-driven Setup reduction time Scrap / rework % OTD improvement Throughput hours per machine Margin improvement on repeat parts ECO implementation speed First-pass yield
