Controls Designer Prolec-GE Waukesha, Inc United States, North Carolina, Goldsboro 2701 US Highway 117 South (Show on map) Apr 17, 2026 Job Posting Title Controls Designer Job Description Develop the design of control and information for manufacturing based on the rules and standards applicable to the function, meeting customer expectations and adhering to the process and fulfilling the defined cycles of the design engineering function.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete transformer mechanical design including internal and external layout of components and accessories based on documentation provided in project design folder, standard practices, and/or from technical advisors. Prepare wiring diagrams of the instruments and accessories for transformer monitoring, adhering to the requirements of the customer specification, functional standards and current regulations. of the control cabinet adhering to the requirements of the client specification, conceptual design information, function standards and current regulations. Prepare wiring diagrams for alarms and signals that adhere to the requirements of the client's specification, conceptual design information, function standards and current regulations. Prepare wiring diagrams for current transformers that adhere to the requirements of the customer's specification, conceptual design information, functional standards, and current regulations. Prepare wiring diagrams for the cooling circuit that adhere to the requirements of the customer's specification, conceptual design information, functional standards, current regulations, and mechanical design data. Prepare the lists and documents necessary for the manufacture of the control cabinet and configuration of electronic equipment that ensure the design functions according to the customer's specification requirements, design information
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Excellent process and problem-solving skills Duties require an understanding of shop methods, industry standards, and drafting procedures Some occasional travel may be required Excellent team player with strong people skills; able to build relationships at all levels of the organization Effective communication skills, including verbal (logical and organized), written, listening and presentation Computer skills: highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications and ProE, PTC Creo Proven ability to perform assignments under minimal supervision, with assistance as required for design questions or technical problems Knowledge of conceptual design, mechanical design, and external connections Knowledge of electronic equipment (IEDs) Knowledge of electronic equipment for monitoring and diagnosis Customer specifications Promis.e Tool Standards, specifications, and components applicable to the industry Manufacturing process KDS Learning Units
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education / Experience Associate's degree in mechanical engineering Drafting and Design or related field Previous experience in PTC Creo ideal Preferred Experience/ Education Engineering Organization, including mechanical, electrical, manufacturing and applications engineering groups Operations Management, including plant Supervision, Quality, Planning, etc.

Key Working Relationships Cross functionally within Engineering and other internal stakeholder groups such as Operations, Sourcing, Test, and Sales and Marketing.
