Job Description

Ryan Scott Displays designs and manufactures custom retail displays and branded environments for some of the most recognized brands in the world. From temporary point-of-purchase displays to permanent retail fixtures, our work combines engineering, creativity, fabrication, and problem-solving to bring concepts to life in real retail environments. We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Design Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys turning ideas into manufacturable products and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where no two projects are exactly the same. This is not a traditional "sit behind a calculator all day" engineering role. Success in this position comes from creativity, practical thinking, strong CAD skills, and the ability to develop real-world solutions that look great and can be efficiently manufactured. What You'll Do Create 3D CAD models, engineering layouts, production drawings, and assembly documentation Translate sketches, concepts, and client direction into manufacturable retail displays Collaborate closely with design, sales, production, vendors, and project management teams Develop creative solutions for materials, assembly methods, shipping, and functionality Prepare files for fabrication, prototyping, and vendor production Support prototype assembly, mockups, and product development Participate in site surveys and field measurements as needed Assist with continuous improvement of engineering standards and workflows Typical Materials & Processes Projects may involve one or more of the following: Wood / MDF / plywood Sheet metal and structural steel Plastics and acrylics Printed graphics Lighting and electrical components Glass Vacuum forming Injection molded components 3D printed parts and prototypes Required Skills Experience with 3D CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar Ability to create organized manufacturing and assembly drawings Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Strong communication and teamwork skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Preferred Skills AutoCAD or equivalent 2D drafting software Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop Rendering or visualization experience (3ds Max, KeyShot, Blender, etc.) Experience in retail displays, fixtures, cabinetry, fabrication, or manufacturing environments Familiarity with prototyping and 3D printing What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who: Enjoys building and creating Thinks visually and mechanically Can balance creativity with manufacturability Takes pride in producing clean, organized work Wants to contribute to a growing and evolving engineering team Enjoys seeing their ideas become real physical products used in stores across the country
