Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Top Place to Work Winner! Kings Mountain, NC Full-TimeOn-Site$85,000 - $130,000 /yr Posted Yesterday Position Overview We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead the development, optimization and scale-up of complex mechanical products and automated production systems. This role combines mechanical and product design expertise with process engineering and reliability practices to deliver robust, manufacturable designs and high-efficiency OEM production lines. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will drive new product introductions, design-for-manufacturability, automated manufacturing cell development, and continuous improvement initiatives to meet quality, cost and delivery targets. Key Responsibilities Lead design-for-manufacturability (DFM/DFMA) reviews and translate product designs into reliable, repeatable manufacturing processes. Develop, specify and commission automated manufacturing cells, robotic workstations and assembly/test fixtures in collaboration with automation integrators and OEM partners. Define process flows, tooling, work instructions, assembly and test processes to ensure product quality, throughput and cost targets are met. Conduct root-cause analysis, reliability investigations and corrective actions for manufacturing issues; implement permanent process improvements. Partner with product design, reliability engineering and procurement to optimize designs for cost, serviceability and manufacturability during new product introduction (NPI). Create and validate manufacturing process documentation including PFMEA, control plans, SOPs and process capability studies. Lead capital equipment selection, vendor qualification and project management for production tooling and automated systems. Implement continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing techniques (5S, Kaizen, poka-yoke) to increase efficiency and reduce waste. Mentor and coach junior engineers and cross-functional teams on design-for-manufacturing best practices and problem-solving methodologies. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements and maintain accurate engineering change and configuration control records. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related technical discipline. 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience with mechanical/product design and process development, preferably in OEM or high-volume production environments. Proven experience designing and commissioning automated manufacturing cells, robotic assembly and test systems. Strong mechanical design skills with proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., ProEngineer, SolidWorks, Creo) and knowledge of GD&T. Demonstrated experience with reliability engineering, root-cause analysis, PFMEA and control plan development. Solid background in process engineering, tooling design, fixture development and production test development. Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies; Black/Green Belt certification preferred. Excellent cross-functional communication and project management skills with experience leading NPI and capital projects. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, BOMs and supplier specifications and to work effectively with OEM partners and suppliers. Strong problem-solving orientation, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, manufacturable products.
