Job Description

Role Overview We are seeking a results-oriented Quality Engineer with at least 3 years of experience in a heavy industrial or metals manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate isn't just a "checker" but a "fixer"—someone who can navigate complex PPAP submissions, resolve customer complaints with professional poise, and take the lead on cost-savings initiatives that impact the bottom line. You will serve as the bridge between the production floor and our most valued customers, ensuring that every ton of metal shipped meets the highest standards of integrity and performance.
Key Responsibilities Documentation & Compliance:
Lead the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) for new and existing products. Ensure all APQP requirements, including FMEAs, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams, are meticulously maintained.
Customer Relationship Management:
Act as the primary technical point of contact for customer quality issues. Lead the investigation of complaints using 8D, 5-Why, or Fishbone methodologies to identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify and spearhead cost-savings initiatives. This includes reducing scrap rates, optimizing cycle times, and minimizing rework through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
Floor Support:
Work directly with production teams to troubleshoot quality issues in real-time, ensuring that "Quality at the Source" is a reality, not just a slogan.
Audit Readiness:
Support internal and external
ISO 9001/IATF 16949
audits to ensure the facility maintains its industry certifications.
Candidate Qualifications Experience:
3+ years of professional experience in a Quality Engineering role, specifically within metals manufacturing (foundry, machining, fabrication, or mill environments).
Technical Proficiency:
Mastery of PPAP submissions and a deep understanding of core quality tools (SPC, MSA, APQP).
Problem-Solving:
Proven track record of handling high-stakes customer complaints and implementing corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
Financial Impact:
Demonstrated ability to quantify quality improvements in terms of cost savings (e.g., "Reduced scrap by 15% resulting in $100k annual savings").
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Industrial) or a related technical field. Certifications (Plus): ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
Benefits:
401(k) matching Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Tuition reimbursement Vision insurance
Work Location:
In person
