Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled SMT Process Engineer to join our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for optimizing surface-mount technology (SMT) processes, ensuring high-quality production, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a strong background in process engineering, automation, and manufacturing best practices, with an emphasis on electronics assembly and industrial equipment. The SMT Process Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency, troubleshoot issues, and implement innovative solutions to meet production goals. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and optimize SMT assembly processes to improve yield and efficiency. Conduct root cause analysis for process deviations and implement corrective actions. Create and review schematics, CAD drawings, and process documentation using tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, and CAD software. Program and troubleshoot robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), CNC machines, and vision inspection systems. Support plastics injection molding, fabrication, tooling setup, and welding processes related to electronics manufacturing. Lead project scheduling efforts for process upgrades or new product introductions while ensuring adherence to
ISO 9001
standards. Utilize lean manufacturing principles to streamline workflows and eliminate waste in the assembly line. Perform process validation usingGD&T, CAM
programming, and other manufacturing engineering techniques. Collaborate with industrial engineers on factory layout optimization and process flow improvements. Maintain detailed documentation of processes, schematics, and technical specifications for industrial equipment. Drive continuous improvement initiatives through data analysis and implementation of best practices in manufacturing. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or related field; advanced degrees or certifications are a plus. Proven experience in process engineering within a manufacturing facility specializing in electronics assembly or similar industries. Strong knowledge of SMT processes, robotics integration, vision inspection systems, CNC programming, and CAM software. Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo; experience with Schematics and GD&T is preferred. Hands-on experience with industrial equipment including PLCs, CNC machines, welding tools, tooling setups, and fabrication techniques. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis effectively. Knowledge ofISO 9001
standards and quality management systems in a manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical knowledge related to assembly lines, tooling design, fabrication processes, and robotics programming.
