Job description Kalwall, founded in 1955 has set the industry standard for diffuse natural lighting systems. At Kalwall, we are committed to providing the best museum-quality daylighting™ available along with superior thermal performance options - all while reducing a building's carbon footprint. All of our daylighting™ products rely on our innovative, sustainable, lightweight structural sandwich panels that are revolutionary in fenestration technology for their combined light quality, energy efficiency and solar control properties. We are currently looking to add an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to our growing Engineering team. This is an opportunity to apply your skills and experience to exciting projects in an established manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, propose, and implement manufacturing process and equipment improvements to advance safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency. Design tooling, fixtures, and equipment for in-house fabrication by our machine shop to support manufacturing operations. Specify and procure new capital equipment working with outside suppliers. Lead projects and solve complex problems in a dynamic team environment. Drive creative problem solving and implement root cause corrective action as part of cross-functional team events. Provide leadership and hands-on technical support for manufacturing operations and maintenance activities. Interface with other disciplines, including Sales Service, Estimating, R&D, and Drafting. Create and maintain detailed drawings, manufacturing work instructions, and maintenance procedures.
Qualifications:
7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role. Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or Engineering Technology discipline. Proficient in CAD (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor) and Microsoft Office applications. Experience in evaluating, building, and troubleshooting manufacturing processes, machinery, and production lines. Experience troubleshooting control components and motion systems in automated equipment. Experience in assembly, CNC machining, testing, heat treating, bending, welding, and finishing a plus. Experience with building materials, curtain walls, storefronts, windows, composites, or sandwich panels a plus. Strong problem-solving, project management, scheduling, and decision-making abilities. Demonstrated experience in creative problem solving and implementing corrective action. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; written and verbal communication of complicated subjects is required.
