Job Description

Controls Systems Analysis & Design Engineer (Lead or Senior)
Company:
The Boeing Company Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for a Lead or Senior Controls Systems Analysis & Design Engineer (Level 4 or 5) with experience in closed loop control systems development, design, implementation, integration and tests for a new program in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The new program is responsible for designing and testing advanced concepts for the US Government. This position will be responsible for controls system requirements definition, controls architecture development, integration and test, Validation & Verification (V&V) of requirements, and system support throughout the product lifecycle. The person chosen for this position will serve as a lead/senior controls engineer and work closely with the other lead engineers (electrical, mechanical, optical and software) in designing and implementing the overall control system.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop high-fidelity mathematical models of dynamic systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical, thermal processes) using first-principles physics and empirical system identification techniques Create detailed control system design specifications, mathematical derivations, simulation reports, and V&V Develop and execute Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) tests for algorithm validation Collaborate closely with software/firmware engineers to translate complex control algorithms into executable code (e.g., C/C++, VHDL) for embedded systems, real-time operating systems (RTOS), or FPGA platforms Support electrical, mechanical, firmware and software teams as the controls Subject Matter Expert Support integration and test of the control loops into the system Present complex technical concepts and findings clearly to multidisciplinary teams Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience): Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement 5+ years of experience with one or more of the following programming languages (C, C++, Fortran, Python, Matlab, etc.) Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 10+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Active U.S. Top Secret security clearance 5+ years of professional experience in designing, modeling, and implementing advanced control algorithms for dynamic systems 5+ years of experience developing electronic equipment used in controls Experience in control of optical systems (gimbals, fast steering mirrors, etc.) Experience with electro-optical systems (EO systems, electro optics) Prior experience leading an engineering team

Pay and Benefits:

Summary pay range for lead (level 4): $142,800 - $193,200 Summary pay range for senior (level 5): $170,850 - $231,150
