Job Description

onsemi is seeking a Senior Factory Automation Engineer at our Hopewell Junction, NY, Site. This role is responsible for designing, deploying, and sustaining advanced automation and AI‑enabled solutions in semiconductor manufacturing. This role focuses on transitioning AI and automation initiatives from proof‑of‑concept into fully integrated, production‑ready systems that improve yield, reliability, safety, and operational efficiency across Post‑Fab manufacturing. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Manufacturing, or related) Strong experience in factory automation, systems integration, or manufacturing engineering Hands‑on experience with Python, automation software, or data‑driven systems Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept through production deployment Strong cross‑functional communication and technical leadership skills Preferred Experience AI/ML and computer vision in manufacturing environments Robotics and automated material handling systems (AGV/AMR) Semiconductor manufacturing or cleanroom environments Custom hardware design or additive manufacturing
Salary:
onsemi is excited to share the base salary range for this position is $75.300 to $120,400 exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of the internal equity of our current team members. We also offer a competitive benefits package.

//www.onsemi.com/site/pdf/Benefits-Summary-USA.pdf Lead design, integration, and deployment of AI/ML‑based in‑situ defect detection systems within manufacturing tools Develop and maintain Python‑based computer vision pipelines tailored to wafer inspection use cases Train AI models using curated defect datasets and bounding‑box annotations Design and fabricate custom 3D‑printed hardware for cleanroom and in‑tool imaging applications Act as the technical integrator between Manufacturing, Engineering, IT/CIM, and Data Systems Integrate vision outputs with enterprise platforms (e.g., Klarity, Shiny) to enable automated holds and defect visibility Support downstream engineering teams by enabling automated root cause analysis workflows Own automation initiatives involving AGV/AMR robotics, including vendor selection, pilot execution, FAT/SAT, and scale deployment Ensure compliance with industrial safety standards and EHS requirements Contribute to advanced manufacturing and sustainability initiatives, including yield improvement, cost reduction, and greenhouse gas reduction
