MANUFACTURING ENGINEER NEEDED - LORAIN, OHIO A
Leading Automotive Supplier near Lorain, Ohio needs a Manufacturing Engineer. Previous Manufacturing Engineering Experience in an Automotive Manufacturing Plant is Required. Metal Stamping & Welding Expertise is Required. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation.

This Manufacturing Engineer will optimize metal stamping and other processes, die designs and press operations to produce high-quality components efficiently. They bridge the gap between initial product design and the factory floor, troubleshooting tooling, reducing scrap, and minimizing production downtime. •
Process Optimization:
Develop, evaluate, and optimize stamping processes (bending, blanking, deep drawing) to improve efficiency and reduce production costs. •
Tooling & Die Design:
Work with tool designers to develop, modify, and troubleshoot progressive, compound, and transfer stamping dies. •
Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
Lead root-cause analysis for production issues, die failures, and quality defects; coordinate with tool makers and maintenance teams to implement corrective actions. • New Product Introduction (NPI): Support new product launches by conducting design for manufacturing (DFM) analyses, performing feasibility studies, and validating tool designs. •
Standardization:
Create and maintain vital engineering documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, bill of materials (BOMs), and setup procedures. •
Continuous Improvement:
Spearhead lean manufacturing and continuous improvement projects focused on reducing downtime, enhancing press speeds, and improving first-run capability.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Material Science is Preferred. Formal Six Sigma, Lean or Continuous Improvement Certifications / Training is Preferred. •
Metal Stamping Experience:
Hands-on experience with high-speed press operations, sheet metal formability, and tool and die construction. •
Software Proficiency:
Strong background in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Auto
CAD, CATIA V5
) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or sheet metal simulation software (e.g., AutoForm). •
Technical Knowledge:
Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and statistical process control (SPC). •
Quality & Compliance:
Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as ISO 9001 and
