Job Description

Job Title:
Automation Engineer Job Description We are seeking an Automation Engineer to support the implementation of advanced automated packaging and warehouse systems at a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. This role will play a key part in designing, integrating, and validating automation solutions, including Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems (ASRS) and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), within a highly regulated GMP environment. Responsibilities Support design, integration, and operation of automated packaging lines connected to automated warehouse systems (ASRS/AGVs). Develop and review equipment and system specifications aligned with GMP, FDA, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements. Lead and support commissioning, qualification, and validation (CQV) activities. Ensure all systems meet safety, quality, and regulatory compliance standards. Partner cross-functionally with Quality, Manufacturing, IT/OT, and CSV teams to maintain GxP compliance. Support development, testing, and implementation of automation and control systems. Review and support controls design including PLCs and
HMI/SCADA
platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.). Work with vendors to ensure automation systems meet technical and project requirements. Drive standardization, system integration, and continuous improvement efforts. Serve as a technical SME and contribute to troubleshooting and problem-solving initiatives. Essential Skills Robotics Automation PLC programming Allen-Bradley Troubleshooting HMI Programming Electrical Controls engineering Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automation Engineering (or related field) Experience in a GMP or GxP-regulated manufacturing environment Hands-on experience with industrial automation and control systems Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with robotics systems (ASRS and AGVs strongly preferred) Knowledge of Industry 4.0, IIoT, and digital manufacturing technologies Familiarity with regulatory standards including FDA, OSHA, and EPA Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally Experience supporting automated warehouse or material handling systems Exposure to CSV (Computer System Validation) and data integrity Work Environment This is a Contract Worker (CW) 100% onsite position in New Albany, OH for 6 months renewable up to a year. Work on a greenfield / highly automated facility with exposure to cutting-edge automation, robotics, and digital manufacturing. This is a high-visibility role with cross-functional impact across engineering, quality, and operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Columbus, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $44.00 - $52.88/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
