Manufacturing Engineer - Metal Stamping & Welding - Lorain, Ohio Direct Hire | Full-Time | On-Site A leading automotive supplier near Lorain, Ohio is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join their team. This is a full-time, permanent, direct hire opportunity offering competitive compensation, bonus potential, strong benefits, paid holidays, and paid vacation time. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience within an automotive manufacturing environment, specifically supporting metal stamping and welding operations. No Sponsorship Available Responsibilities Develop, evaluate, and optimize metal stamping processes including bending, blanking, and deep drawing to improve efficiency, reduce scrap, and lower production costs. Support high-speed press operations and troubleshoot tooling, die, and production-related issues to minimize downtime. Collaborate with tool and die teams to develop, modify, and improve progressive, compound, and transfer stamping dies. Lead root cause analysis activities related to quality defects, die failures, and manufacturing inefficiencies while implementing corrective actions. Support new product launches through Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis, feasibility studies, and tooling validation activities. Create and maintain engineering documentation including SOPs, work instructions, setup procedures, and BOMs. Drive continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives focused on process optimization, throughput improvement, and first-run capability enhancement. Work cross-functionally with production, maintenance, tooling, quality, and engineering teams to support manufacturing objectives.
Qualifications Required:
Previous Manufacturing Engineering experience within an automotive manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with metal stamping and welding processes. Strong understanding of sheet metal formability, tool and die construction, and high-speed press operations. Experience troubleshooting manufacturing and tooling-related issues in a production environment. Knowledge of GD&T and Statistical Process Control (SPC). Familiarity with Quality Management Systems including ISO 9001 and
IATF 16949.
Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or related field. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement certifications/training. Experience with CAD software including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or
CATIA V5.
