JOB SUMMARY
This position leads a team of personnel focused on engineering issues, including continuous improvement activities and daily engineering tasks. In addition, will prioritize and delegate work assignments and may assist in training of engineering staff. They often evaluate their team's work processes and best practices and implement changes to streamline operations. Provide mentoring/leadership to staff.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs Manufacturing Engineering support to production. Provides planning, direction, and facilitation of all Engineering activities. Attends daily Accountability meetings to understanding needs of production and where to deploy resources. Supports Manufacturing and Production staff to solve technical, quality and production problems to ensure consistent product flow. Develops project plans and schedules to lead medium to large size project with definable objectives and due dates. Functions as a project manager and/or team leader and will direct team members to successful project completion. Develops, directs and executes plans with the Engineering team that reduces waste and optimizes performance of various systems. Directs root cause analysis and implementation of solutions and process improvements Provides guidance to staff in their troubleshooting, project management, protocol design, validations and other tasks. Demonstrates objective and critical thinking as a model for other staff members. Works with other departments to effectively transfer projects from development to production and to effectively implement process improvements. Utilizes and employs statistical methods to support process improvements and validations. Participates and guides team in the participation of Kaizen activities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related field is required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering. Strong leadership skills to motivate team members and know how to efficiently make important decisions. Strong project management and organizational skills. . Strong collaboration skills - works effectively and cooperatively with all levels within the organization; establishes and maintains good working relationships. Drives for results - sets high standards; monitors progress toward goals; tenaciously works to meet or exceed goals on time and within budget. Demonstrates good business judgment; uses data from different sources to draw conclusions; uses effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions General knowledge of tooling, molding, secondary, product design, CAD/CAM, mold design and other processes related to the plastics industry. Working knowledge of MS Office Strong written & oral communication skills with ability to communicate and teach others. Will have a demonstrated understanding of lean methods to reduce waste and complexity in all processes. Able to manage teams or work independently to solve problems and create new opportunities
