Job Description

We're a leading manufacturer in the work truck industry, with a deep lineup that includes snowplows, spreaders, heavy-duty towing equipment, hydraulic systems, and durable truck accessories. We are not coasting on our legacy. We are accelerating and we are looking for a skilled Design Engineer to add to our team. What You'll Do You will own the mechanical design of real products—products that roll off our factory floor in Mentor, Ohio every single day and earn their living in the field. That accountability is not abstract. You'll see your decisions in steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. You'll see them in the hands of the customers who depend on them. More specifically, you will: Design and develop complex mechanical assemblies that integrate structural, electrical, and hydraulic systems into cohesive, manufacturable solutions Drive the full product definition—from concept through production release—with a relentless focus on quality and cost competitiveness Exploit the capabilities of our advanced manufacturing assets: robotic press brakes, robotic welders, and high-performance laser cutting systems. The best designs are written around the tools that build them Collaborate with our supply chain team to identify and qualify new suppliers who bring capability, capacity, and long-term value Partner with product management to translate customer needs into the right feature sets—no more, no less Support production by solving design-related issues at the source and improving manufacturability on every revision cycle Stay ahead of technical developments and industry standards that affect our product lines and competitive position What You Bring You don't need to have designed a snowplow before. You need to have the mindset that gets you there: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology 5-10 years of hands-on experience with complex, multi-component mechanical assemblies Demonstrated ability to design for manufacturability—balancing structural integrity, ease of assembly and overall value Practical knowledge of metal fabrication processes and how design choices translate to real-world production outcomes Experience evaluating test data and translating results into meaningful design improvements Comfort working across disciplines—you understand how mechanical design interfaces with electrical and hydraulic systems, and you're not intimidated by either Strong communication skills and the ability to align cross-functional teams around a clear design direction A disciplined, organized approach to documentation and design management—rigor is not optional here Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of sustaining high output in a fast-moving environment Why This Place, Why Now We have state-of-the-art manufacturing on site—robotic press brakes, robotic welders, and laser cutting systems that give us a genuine competitive edge. The engineers who thrive here are the ones who see those capabilities as an invitation, not just a constraint. They design products that exploit every advantage those machines provide. We have a large, loyal, and active customer base that is ready to buy the products you design. Your work will not sit in a backlog. It will ship. Growth is central to our strategy, backed by investment in equipment, facilities, and talent. We don't wait for growth - we enable it. This is not a common thing. And we have 80 years of reputation in the work truck industry as a foundation—not a ceiling. We are a growing force within the industry, and we want engineers who want to be part of that ascent. The right candidate doesn't just read a job description and send a resumé. They want to see the floor. They want to stand next to a robotic welder and understand what it can do. They want to meet the leaders of the company, show their curiosity, and talk through their experience with pride. We want to show you what we're building. Come tour our Mentor facility. Walk the production floor. See the laser cutting equipment run, watch the robotic press brakes work, and meet the engineering leaders who are shaping where this company goes next. That conversation will be the beginning of something, not a formality. We have spent 80 years laying the structure. Now we're growing—adding capability, capacity, and reach with every passing year. The engineers who join us at this moment grow with that structure. Your skills deepen as our products evolve. Your influence expands as our market does. What you design today becomes the foundation for what we build tomorrow. That's not a promise of a title or a ladder to climb—it's something more tangible: a company that's building, and a role that rises with it.
