Job Title:
Continuous Improvement Engineer Job Description The Continuous Improvement Engineer will apply basic statistics, Six Sigma, and Lean techniques to monitor key processes and lead continuous improvement initiatives that reduce variation and streamline manufacturing. This position will collaborate closely with the Plant Manager, Operational Excellence Leader, and multiple functions to drive innovation and operational excellence. Responsibilities Adhere to company policies, including safety and the use of personal protective equipment, and participate in safety improvement initiatives. Serve as a strategic subject matter expert for manufacturing processes, driving innovation and operational excellence. Develop and implement advanced methodologies, tools, and best practices to optimize start-ups, changeovers, and troubleshooting. Act as a key liaison between engineering and operations to ensure seamless project transitions, manufacturability assessments, and cross-functional collaboration. Spearhead the creation, implementation, and governance of process maps, specifications, and control plans. Lead high-impact continuous improvement events to identify systemic inefficiencies and spearhead data-driven initiatives. Overhaul and lead the advancement of training programs for manufacturing personnel, designing competency-based training modules. Monitor emerging manufacturing technologies and drive strategic implementation to enhance operational performance. Oversee the systematic updating of manufacturing documentation and lead comprehensive training programs. Develop and execute a plant-wide continuous improvement strategy in collaboration with senior leadership and cross-functional teams. Utilize advanced data analytics, statistical modeling, Six Sigma, and Lean methodologies for process evaluations. Lead the integration of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and capability analysis across key process and product variables. Champion the enterprise-wide adoption of 5S principles for workplace organization and efficiency. Manage multiple high-priority projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with corporate strategic goals. Play a pivotal role in the design, deployment, and governance of centralized manufacturing data systems and an integrated Quality Management System (QMS). Lead strategic planning, execution, and analysis of plant trials to refine processes and enhance product quality. Establish a best-practice-sharing network with peer facilities to standardize and scale process improvements. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial). Five to seven years of continuous improvement experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in continuous manufacturing operations. Strong technical writing and statistical analysis skills. Proficiency in Minitab is preferred. Certification as a Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt is preferred. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization. Self-directed with strong teamwork skills, work ethic, and ability to work independently. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet defined timelines. Cross-functional team environment experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior leadership experience is preferred. Ability to analyze and resolve problems. Experience working with vendors, contractors, plant staff, and various corporate functions. Proficiency in writing and speaking in multiple languages is a plus. Work Environment The Continuous Improvement Engineer will perform duties in office, manufacturing, and warehouse environments. The role requires standing, walking, using hands, reaching, and occasionally sitting, climbing, or balancing. The role involves exposure to hot and cold temperatures, moving mechanical parts, loud noises, high places, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, electrical shock, and vibration risks. Vision abilities required include distance vision and depth perception. Regularly required to lift and/or move at least 50 pounds. The engineer may be required to work outside regular business hours to meet deadlines and work well under pressure and in start-up situations. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Oklahoma City, OK.
