BASIC PURPOSE
Montgomery County Community College is searching for a part time CNC Mill and Lathe instructor to teach our CNC Machinist program at our Pottstown and/or Blue Bell campuses. If you have spent time in a shop running lathes and mills, we want to hear from you.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Demonstrate and teach best practices for safe and effective use of machining equipment and tools.
  • Teach students the theory and practice of machining aligned to NIMS credentials including measurement, materials, and safety, as well as basic CNC Mill and/or Lathe operations.
  • Demonstrate, conduct, and supervise practical labs and training for students on CNC equipment in the college labs.
  • Cover topics including basic measurements, print reading, precision measurement tools, dimensional gauging and tolerances; drilling, internal machining, milling and turning operations; CNC mill programming, turning and grinding; CNC troubleshooting; and statistical process control.
  • Evaluate student performance in the class.
  • Partner with industry advisory group to continue to improve and align instruction to industry needs.
  • Serve as a reference for students seeking employment with regional employers.
  • Partner with Workforce Division to help plan and implement additional machining courses and/or contract training with regional employers.
  • Help maintain machining labs as safe and organized work areas.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS
  • Hands-on CNC experience in a production environment as an operator, programmer, setup technician, or machinist.
  • Comfort reading and interpreting G-code at the machine to help students troubleshoot their own programs.
  • Prior instructional experience is desirable but can be waived for experienced professionals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years of experience operating CNC Mill and Lathe equipment, HAAS or comparable.
  • Working experience with CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or equivalent).
