ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Manufacturability Engineer to join our team supporting the Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) at their Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of West Mifflin, PA with 15% hybrid flexibility. Responsibilities Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineers across multiple locations. Review and disposition supplier mechanical design submittals to validate designs based on technical requirements. Interface with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are satisfied. Understand

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university and 3+ years of work experience as a Mechanical Engineer. Citizenship
  • To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work. Clearance
  • To start the position, you must be able to obtain a DOE "L" clearance. Candidate with active L clearance or Secret clearance are highly desired. Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software. Experience with Model Based Design
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability.
Experience implementing Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) into designs. Ability to review, understand, and apply relevant engineering codes and standards (e.g.
ASME, AWS
). Experience supporting design reviews and technical interchanges with Suppliers. Experience with machining and all forms of welding processes across design and production. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to think creatively and make recommendations to senior project personnel. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products. Desired Skills Active DOE "L" clearance or DoD "Secret" clearance, highly desired (Or higher clearances ). About the Site The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is comprised of the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory , located in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory located in Niskayuna, New York, the Kesselring Site , located in West Milton, New York, and the Naval Reactor Facility located in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Together, they develop advanced technology for the United States Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, ensure the safety and reliability of naval nuclear reactors, and train Sailors who operate reactors in submarines and aircraft carrier fleets ( energy.gov ).
