Job Description:
CNC Field Service Engineer Bay Area, CA Territory A well-established and highly respected machine tool and automation company is seeking a CNC Field Service Engineer to support customers throughout the Bay Area and surrounding Northern California territory. This role is ideal for a hands-on technical professional with experience troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining CNC machinery and automated manufacturing equipment. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced machining technologies while supporting customers across aerospace, medical device, semiconductor, precision manufacturing, and industrial automation industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair complex electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control-related issues on CNC machinery
Install, commission, and calibrate CNC machines and automated equipment at customer sites
Perform preventive maintenance and machine inspections to maximize uptime and reliability
Troubleshoot servo systems, motors, drives, PLCs, and CNC controls
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings
Support customers both on-site and remotely with technical troubleshooting and service needs
Maintain detailed service documentation and communicate findings clearly to customers and internal teams
Provide emergency support and rapid response to minimize customer downtime
Travel throughout the assigned Northern California territory to support customer sites
Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in CNC field service, machine tool repair, industrial maintenance, or automation support
Experience with CNC controls such as FANUC, Siemens, Heidenhain, Haas, Mazak, or similar platforms
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills using multimeters and diagnostic equipment
Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, servo drives, and motion control systems
Ability to perform machine alignments, ballscrew repairs, and mechanical adjustments preferred
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently in field environments
