Job Description As a Component Design Engineer for gas turbine inlets, nacelles, installations and exhaust (INIE), you will be part of the global Structures & Controls Engineering, Technology & Safety organization. You will develop complex engineering solutions that satisfy cutting-edge aerospace functional and physical requirements and exhibit robustness for manufacturing capability. Within your assigned propulsion system program, you'll be responsible for developing, assessing, and delivering INIE hardware and systems that push the envelope with performance, life, and efficiency. Your Responsibilities Develop new component designs and design changes for high-performance gas turbine INIE hardware and systems, which includes (but is not limited to) creating design concepts, optimizing concepts to a final definition, preparing technical presentations and documents, performing dimensional analyses, supporting creation of drawings, delivering hardware for validation, and release of hardware to production. Perform analyses for gas turbine INIE hardware and systems to substantiate suitability for new engine applications, extended performance of existing engines, and interface requirements. Present and defend design solutions and technical work to program leadership and other stakeholders. Support the supply chain in procuring hardware including review of supplier documentation, assessment of non-conforming hardware, and review of supplier change proposals. Support manufacturing, assembly, service, and aftermarket issues promptly as they arise to keep production on target and the fleet in operation. Perform investigations of in-service and/or development hardware issues including failure analysis, root cause / corrective action (RCCA), reporting, and documentation. Share findings with the global turbomachinery team in accordance with export control regulations.
