Continuous Improvement Engineer Continuous Improvement Engineer (Food Manufacturing) Position Overview The Continuous Improvement Engineer will drive productivity, quality, safety, and cost improvements across food production operations by applying Lean, Kaizen and continuous improvement methods. This role leads improvement projects, coaches teams in problem solving and standard work, and uses data-driven analysis to deliver measurable operational gains while ensuring compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage continuous improvement projects from problem identification through implementation and sustainment, delivering measurable improvements in safety, quality, throughput and cost. Plan, facilitate and follow up on Kaizen events, value stream mapping and rapid improvement workshops across production, packaging and support areas. Apply Lean tools and methodologies (5S, SMED, standard work, visual management, mistake-proofing) and Six Sigma problem-solving techniques to eliminate waste and variation. Analyze process performance using data and statistical methods, develop root cause analyses, and translate findings into practical countermeasures and control plans. Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to track progress, forecast impact and report results to stakeholders. Coach, train and mentor cross-functional teams and frontline operators on continuous improvement methods, standard work, and sustainment practices. Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, quality, R&D and supply chain to ensure improvements support product quality, food safety (HACCP, SQF, BRC) and regulatory compliance. Support new product introductions and capital projects by identifying opportunities to optimize processes, line efficiency and layout. Create clear project documentation, benefit tracking, cost justification and post-implementation reviews to ensure sustained results. Promote a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement by recognizing success, removing barriers and sharing best practices across sites. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Food), Food Science or related field; or equivalent experience. 3+ years of continuous improvement, process engineering or manufacturing experience, preferably in food or FMCG environments. Demonstrated experience applying Lean and Kaizen methodologies; formal certification (Lean, Kaizen facilitator) preferred. Experience with Six Sigma tools; Green Belt or higher is a plus. Strong analytical skills with experience using data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, SPC) to drive decisions. Proven project management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams and delivering measurable results. Working knowledge of food safety systems and regulatory requirements (HACCP, SQF, BRC) and experience implementing improvements without compromising compliance. Excellent communication, coaching and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels. Comfortable working on the plant floor and supporting multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
