Job Description

A globally leading consumer device company headquartered in Cupertino, CA is looking for a Manufacturing Design Engineer to join their team and co-lead development, and ramp for the next iteration of a Softgoods product.
Key responsibilities:
Partner with multi-functional teams and contract manufacturers to evaluate design and processes at the concept and ramp phases. Plan, propose, and lead experiments to produce timely and accurate analyses for design, development, and supply chain decisions. Assess fabrication technology suitability, plan validation exercises to demonstrate feasibility and manufacturing capability, and analyze results to provide technical recommendations. Evaluate and identify process opportunities/risks, drive mitigations plans to meet program targets, and review development activities at supplier locations. Serve as lead engineer to drive process development, review part design documentation for alignment, assign tasks, and support process development and data gathering. Establish validation procedures for tooling acceptance into development and mass production builds. Review supplier tool design, process flow, equipment selection, DFM, and DOE proposals, identify shortfalls, and provide corrective actions. Work with supplier engineering teams to map process development exercises, secure resources, and commit to schedules. Assess supplier readiness for build events and production ramp, identify potential issues, and provide recommendations. Define and review line qualification criteria with the supplier to scale up mass production to meet key production metrics. Review, lead, and assist maintaining product process flow, layout, and cycle time against project goals.
Key Qualifications:
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering. 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, preferably within a high-volume manufacturing environment Proven experience supporting new product launches from a mechanical, tooling, or product development perspective. Experience with mechanical fabricated parts or adhesives, glues, jigs, fixtures, tooling, injection molding, plastics experience is required. Deep understanding of
DOE, GD&T, SPC
techniques. Experience leading suppliers technical team in the development and qualification of manufacturing process Experience defining & executing mass production qualification requirements Demonstrated hands-on mechanical ability. Willingness to travel internationally to supplier sites. Experience with highly cosmetic parts a plus. International experience, particularly in Asia is a plus
