Our consultants are experts in the latest automation technologies and are committed to helping our clients improve efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness on the plant floor. About the role We are hiring a Senior PLC Engineer to join our team on-site at the Tenaris Hickman facility in Arkansas, supporting one of the largest seamless steel pipe operations in North America. You will own the design, commissioning, and ongoing reliability of Allen-Bradley / Rockwell control systems across critical production lines. This is a hands-on, on-site role for someone who has lived through plant startups, can walk a line and is comfortable making fast decisions when a mill is down. You will work side-by-side with Tenaris plant engineering and operations teams, and report into IES technical leadership. What you will do Develop and maintain PLC programs on Allen-Bradley / Rockwell platforms (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Studio 5000) Configure, integrate, and troubleshoot HMI and SCADA systems (FactoryTalk View or equivalent) Lead commissioning, startup, and debugging of new and upgraded automation systems Diagnose complex control system issues quickly to minimize production downtime Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and process engineering teams on plant projects Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve OEE, throughput, and reliability Develop functional specifications, control narratives, and technical documentation Provide on-site and remote support to operations and maintenance teams Mentor junior controls engineers and technicians Required qualifications 10+ years of PLC programming experience in heavy industrial environments (steel, metals, mining, or similar) Allen-Bradley / Rockwell expertise: ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Studio 5000 Programming languages: Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block Industrial networks: EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus
HMI / SCADA
hands-on design, integration, and troubleshooting Field hardware: VFDs, motors, sensors, instrumentation Safety standards: working knowledge of
OSHA, NFPA
70E, and NFPA 79
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field
English:
B2-C1 level (written and spoken — you will work directly with US plant teams) Preferred qualifications Direct experience in steel manufacturing (rolling mills, EAF, casters, finishing lines, seamless pipe) Familiarity with MES systems and production data integration Motion control, robotics, or advanced automation experience Multi-site or international project experience What you bring as a person Strong analytical and problem-solving skills under production pressure Ability to work independently and across functions Strong written and verbal communication Non-negotiable commitment to safety Location, relocation & logistics Work location: On-site at the Tenaris Hickman plant, Arkansas, USA Work environment: Industrial plant — heat, heavy equipment
