Job Title:
Process Designer Job Description The Process Designer develops detailed 2D and 3D models of process piping systems, equipment layouts, and facility infrastructure to support industrial and sanitary processing projects. This role transforms engineering concepts and project requirements into accurate design deliverables using Revit, AutoCAD, and related tools, with a strong focus on food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or other sanitary processing environments. Responsibilities Develop detailed 2D and 3D models of process piping systems, equipment layouts, and facility infrastructure using Revit and AutoCAD. Produce construction, fabrication, and installation drawings that support efficient project execution. Translate engineering concepts and project requirements into clear, accurate, and buildable design deliverables. Create piping layouts, equipment arrangements, and utility routing for food processing and packaging systems. Work with point clouds in Revit to accurately model existing facilities, structures, and equipment layouts. Prepare detailed design drawings, including general arrangement drawings, piping layouts, and equipment integration plans. Implement design revisions and project markups from engineering, project, and construction teams. Ensure that all design documents align with fabrication and installation requirements and support safe, efficient operations. Collaborate with engineers and project stakeholders to resolve design issues and optimize layouts. Maintain organized project files and design documentation to support traceability and future modifications. Essential Skills 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, industrial drafting, or process equipment layout. Proficiency with Revit for 3D modeling and coordination. Proficiency with AutoCAD for 2D drafting and detailing. Experience with process piping and piping design in industrial or manufacturing environments. Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), process flow diagrams, and mechanical layouts. Understanding of piping systems, pumps, valves, and industrial equipment layouts. Familiarity with requirements for fabrication and installation drawings. Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, constructible design documents. Ability to incorporate design markups and revisions efficiently and accurately. Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with engineering and project teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Experience supporting engineering or capital equipment projects in industrial or manufacturing environments. Experience in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or other sanitary processing environments is preferred. Experience using Plant 3D or similar plant design tools is beneficial. Mechanical background with knowledge of process piping and sanitary design considerations. Ability to work with point cloud data in Revit for existing facility modeling. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize layouts for constructability and maintenance access. Work Environment The role follows a Monday through Friday schedule and typically combines on-site and remote work, with three days on site and two days working remotely. Work involves a mix of office-based design activities using Revit, AutoCAD, and related design software, along with time spent in industrial or manufacturing facilities to review existing conditions and coordinate designs. The environment centers on food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or sanitary processing operations, where accuracy, cleanliness, and adherence to industry standards are important. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sun Prairie, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $44.00/hr.
