Compensation Range:
78,600-98,400 plus sales bonus Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location. Job Purpose The Project Design Engineering Manager oversees a team of project engineers to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of technical designs for assigned projects. This role focuses on coordinating cross-functional engineering tasks, maintaining design quality, and ensuring alignment with specific customer requirements and established internal standards. The manager is responsible for keeping engineering output on schedule and within budget while supporting field constructability and team collaboration. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Deliverable Management:
Direct the completion of technical design packages for customer projects, ensuring they are accurate and meet contract specifications.
Team Supervision:
Manage and mentor a team of project engineers, providing technical guidance and conducting regular performance reviews.
Process Adherence:
Implement established engineering processes, design review checkpoints, and documentation standards across the team.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
Work closely with project managers, drafting teams, and field staff to resolve design issues and clarify technical requirements.
Schedule & Resource Alignment:
Monitor team workload to ensure engineering milestones support permitting, procurement, and construction deadlines.
Technical Review:
Lead project-level design reviews and perform quality assurance checks on all team deliverables.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify and recommend improvements to design tools and workflows to increase team efficiency.
Technical Support:
Serve as a resource for the team regarding design decisions, technical problem-solving, and code compliance. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or a related Engineering field. 5-7+ years of experience in engineering design, with 2+ years in a lead or supervisory capacity. Demonstrated experience in delivering engineered design packages for construction or industrial projects. Strong ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary tasks and manage team priorities. Solid understanding of engineering documentation, industry codes, and QA/QC procedures. Strong communication and technical problem-solving skills. Proficiency with CAD platforms and project tracking software.
