The Bernard Group is looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting clients, sales team and design team members to create SolidWorks models, drawings, and BOMs for the quotation and manufacturing of fixtures. You will mentor and coach other Design Engineers on the creation of all computer engineered specifications and instruction manuals for prototype and production purposes, as well as completes design specifications in this role. This role also helps with the editing and redlining of models and drawings. You will oversee the work with vendor partners to understand fabrication techniques in different materials to create accurate drawings and models. Fixtures may be manufactured out of any combination of wood, metal, or plastic. The Senior Design Engineer needs have a strong understanding of the visual landscape as design is a critical function of the role.
Shift available:
Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (this is a hybrid role and does require some onsite presence at our Chanhassen, MN office) A variety of these traits will help land you this job : takes initiative in tough situations a focus on quality strong problem solving skills experience assisting customers via phone and/or email strong written and verbal communication skills works with a sense of urgency On top of that you must have: a Bachelor's Degree in CAD/Engineering, Mechanical Design, or Engineering 6+ years experience in SolidWorks, CAD software Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Creative Suites working for a related industry, preferably print or retail. I n this position, you will: collaborate with product development, prototyping, design and sales team to engineer creative and compelling solutions within project budget and timelines. mentor and coach Design Engineers as needed on a project by project basis. work with clients (outside client, sales, or PM) to understand project objective. create detailed SolidWorks (SW) models, drawings, and BOMs to use for prototyping and production of parts. create PDF drawings and compatible files for production on CNC machine (if applicable.) be responsible for accurate documentation and revision control of all drawings and models. be a leader on the team in utilizing our EPDM file database and part numbering system. build models, specifically plastic parts, utilizing the SOPs provided by the TBG Fabrication team. create Solidworks renderings from models utilizing Photoview 360 or similar software and present materials to the project team utilizing team inDesign templates for ultimate presentations with the clients. create models and drawings based on parts which have already been produced or prototyped and participate in value engineering exercises. work with fabrication, vendor partners or prototype teams to edit and revise parts for production. exhibit a strong understanding of hardware library, material library and proper applications of hardware. exhibit a strong understanding of material attributes and fabrication processes, finishes and finishing techniques. perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks, as requested by Management. Compensation Range :
$83,000 - 100,000 annually •Range reflects our good-faith assessment of our hiring range for this role based on market conditions, experience level, and internal equity considerations.
