at our spa manufacturing plant in Athens, TN. The environment is split between an office and the production floor. There will be exposure to fiberglass and saw dust. We are seeking a motivated and skilled Associate Engineer to join our Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks. This role involves creating visually appealing illustrations and designs for various projects, including Frame Drawing, Spa Plumbing and Spa Drawings, e.g., product designs. The ideal candidate will be familiar with building and creating bills of materials. Associate Design Engineer - Job Responsibilities (Spa Manufacturing + R&D) Product & Component Design Support the design and development of spa components including jets, pumps, plumbing assemblies, control systems, heaters, and molded spa shells . Create and update 2D/3D CAD models for spa systems, sub‑assemblies, and plastic/composite components. Prepare detailed engineering drawings, material specifications, and BOMs. Assist in designing hydraulic, electrical, and structural layouts to ensure optimal water flow, energy efficiency, and user safety. R&D Responsibilities Participate in research and development projects focused on new spa technologies, materials, and product innovations. Assist in evaluating new components, pumps, jets, insulation materials, LED lighting, and control technologies for future product lines. Conduct benchmarking studies on competitor products to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities. Support R&D testing activities including prototype builds, experimental setups, performance testing, and data collection . Document R&D findings, test results, and recommendations to support decision‑making for new product introductions. Collaborate with senior engineers to develop proof‑of‑concept designs , early prototypes, and experimental assemblies. Participate in DOE (Design of Experiments) , material trials, and long‑term reliability testing for new spa components. Engineering Analysis & Validation Perform engineering calculations related to water flow, pressure drop, pump performance, thermal behavior, and structural loads . Conduct tolerance stack‑ups and manufacturability reviews for molded and assembled spa components. Support prototype testing for hydrotherapy performance, noise levels, energy efficiency, and durability . Analyze test data and recommend design modifications to improve performance and reliability. Manufacturing & Production Support Work with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for injection molding, vacuum forming, plumbing assembly, and electrical integration . Assist in resolving production issues related to fit, form, function, or assembly processes. Support the creation and maintenance of assembly instructions, quality standards, and process documentation . Cross‑Functional Collaboration Collaborate with quality teams to address non‑conformances and implement corrective actions. Work with supply chain and vendors to evaluate materials, components, and manufacturability of spa parts. Participate in design reviews with engineering, production, and product management teams. Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate engineering documentation, revision control, and ECO processes. Ensure designs comply with UL, CE, and other regulatory standards for spa and electrical equipment. Prepare technical reports, test summaries, and R&D documentation. Continuous Improvement & Innovation Support cost‑reduction initiatives through material optimization, part consolidation, and improved manufacturing methods. Research new technologies related to hydrotherapy, water management, insulation, energy efficiency, and user experience . Participate in continuous improvement activities using tools such as 5‑Why, Fishbone, and FMEA . Benefits:
