POSITION SUMMARY
Vertiv - STL Austin, Texas is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for executing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes at the STL facility, including developing efficient workflows, ensuring safety, and improving product quality. The Manufacturing Engineer will support production ramp and ongoing operations while ensuring alignment with global AME-defined manufacturing systems. This role serves as the on-site owner of manufacturing process execution and performance at
STL. RESPONSIBILITIES
Process Improvement and workflow optimization: Identify, plan, and implement process improvements to enhance quality, reduce cost, increase productivity, improve safety, and optimize cycle time Monitor manufacturing performance metrics (yield, cycle time, uptime, scrap) and drive actions to meet or exceed defined performance targets Apply Lean manufacturing tools and methodologies to eliminate waste and improve operational efficiency Support development and execution of process improvement strategies within the Operations organization Provide hands-on support to production teams to troubleshoot issues and implement sustainable solutions on the shop floor Ensure all process changes and improvements align with global manufacturing standards and system architecture Partner closely with operators and production leadership to ensure processes are practical, sustainable, and consistently executed Contribute to automation and tooling improvements where applicable Support ISO Quality System requirements, Quality Policy, and broader continuous improvement initiatives
Global AME Alignment:
Execute manufacturing processes in accordance with global AME standards Provide feedback to Global AME on process performance, gaps, and improvement opportunities Support implementation of standardized processes, tools, and technologies
Work Instructions:
Develop, document, and continuously improve detailed work instructions and standard work Ensure operators are trained and aligned to defined processes Design for
Manufacturability and Process Risk Management:
Conduct Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify and mitigate potential risks in manufacturing processes. Partner with design engineering and product teams to support manufacturability and process improvements
Project & Implementation Support:
Support execution of manufacturing-related projects at the site level Coordinate implementation of new processes, tooling, and equipment Ensure timely completion of assigned deliverables within project timelines
Fixture Design and Fabrication:
Collaborate with the Engineering Department to design, validate, and support fabrication of fixtures to support product development, testing, and production.
Production Support:
Support early-stage manufacturing ramp, including process stabilization, debugging, and iteration Operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving production environment with changing requirements Assist with troubleshooting equipment and machine issues as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Proven ability to independently troubleshoot and stabilize manufacturing processes in a production environment Strong understanding of manufacturing performance drivers, cost control, and process optimization Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment with minimal direction Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills. Education/Experience BS degree in a technical field required, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering preferred. Experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree. 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment required Experience supporting production ramp, new product introduction (NPI), or early-stage manufacturing environments required Experience supporting equipment, fixtures, or manufacturing tooling in a production environment preferred Lean Certification preferred.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds. Light manufacturing
