What to Expect The Cell Manufacturing Engineering team at Tesla is looking for a highly-motivated Sr. Manufacturing Engineer to contribute to the development and ramp of cell manufacturing equipment and processes for Tesla Energy Batteries. The Battery is one of the most complex and challenging components designed and manufactured at Tesla. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Tesla's world class manufacturing facilities. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where, as a Manufacturing Engineer, you will work on developing and ramping manufacturing lines, work with cross-functional teams to test, validate, and roll-out equipment to production. Drive development of new/innovate manufacturing processes in Can Stamping and the equipment modules to make can forming possible from proof of concept to full scale production
Drive ramp of new manufacturing lines by characterizing baseline performance and capability of each system, drive actions to maintain or improve performance as measured by product quality and tool availability
Be an expert in technical manufacturing engineering discussions and define process development roadmap for Can Stamping processes including Cup Forming, Drawing & Wall Ironing, Washing & Drying and Conveyance
Drive root cause analysis through process and equipment expertise, derive and execute DOE's accordingly, correlate with upstream/downstream processes
Ensuremanufacturing lines meet uptime, availability and reliability metrics - OEE, cycle time, yield, quality and first time throughput, and investigate bottlenecks to identify root cause and countermeasure to maximize throughput
Work independently and with vendors to understand root cause of failures, propose design or component changes, and implement and validate equipment modifications
Develop and deliver training to operationsand maintenance technicians to ensure seamless handover of new equipment
Generate and maintain documentation including machine and process specifications, drawings, BOM, spare parts, PFMEA, control plan, process flow chart What You'll Bring
Degree in Science or equivalent relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent
6 or more years of experience in a production environment and/or proven manufacturing development track record
Experience with cold stamping dies (progressive, transfer) or beverage can ironing process
Experience with 3D CAD (CATIA, Solidworks) needed, FEM tools a plus (AutoForm, Dyna)
Proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Compensation and Benefits
