Permanent Role Overview As a Fluids Ground Support Equipment (FGSE) Design Engineer, you will contribute to the development of next-generation launch sites, test stands, and production equipment. You will work in a collaborative environment on fluid system design, installation, maintenance, and operation. This position involves preliminary and detailed design, installation support, system baselining, performance analysis, and recommending upgrades. Key Responsibilities Design ground fluid systems, including developing P&IDs, performing sizing calculations for various fluids, and selecting components. Manage the fabrication, installation, checkout, and operation of fluid systems. Coordinate and plan fabrication and construction with the GSE technician team by providing drawings, work instructions, and on-site support. Ensure work aligns with policies, procedures, and specifications established by the design team. Maintain understanding of engineering codes and standards such as ASME B31.3, ANSI, API, and NFPA. Participate in and lead internal and external design reviews and readiness reviews. Perform activation testing, including writing procedures, executing test plans, and collaborating with other teams. Maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot fluid systems, including creating maintenance plans and using the nonconformance reporting system. Travel to test and launch sites as required to support company objectives.Required Qualifications Education:
A Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering discipline is required.Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience with fluid systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, or HVAC systems in a design, assembly, test, or operations capacity is required. This includes direct experience in both incompressible and compressible fluid system design.Skills:
Candidates must have a strong understanding of first-principles in fluids, heat transfer, and thermodynamics. The role requires the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, self-motivate, and take ownership of complex systems. The capacity to balance design tasks with project management duties, including budgeting and scheduling, is necessary. Willingness to travel up to 30% is required. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of professional experience with fluid systems in a design, assembly, test, or operations capacity. Cryogenic system design and operational experience. Experience in an aerospace, R D, or oil & gas environment. Familiarity with distributed control systems (instrumentation, data acquisition, SCADA). Strong 3D CAD experience, preferably in Siemens NX/Teamcenter. Experience developing test and operational procedures. Hands-on experience building, troubleshooting, and operating complex fluid or mechanical systems. Direct experience with the design and build of ground support equipment (GSE). Compensation & Benefits The anticipated compensation for this position is between $95,000.00 and $110,000.00 annually. The benefits package includes health, dental, and vision plans, parental leave, educational reimbursement, short-term disability, and flexible PTO options.
