This role combines:
Project coordination Mechanical detailing Fabrication drawing creation Production support Shop-floor problem solving The ideal candidate is highly organized, hands-on, and comfortable working directly with fabrication personnel, vendors, and customers to ensure projects move efficiently from concept through production. This is not a "sit behind a desk all day" engineering role. We are looking for someone who can manage details, solve problems quickly, and help drive execution inside a fast-paced fabrication environment. Key ResponsibilitiesProject Coordination & Execution Assist in managing fabrication projects from kickoff through delivery Track schedules, deliverables, revisions, and material requirements Coordinate between engineering, purchasing, fabrication, paint, and assembly teams Communicate with customers, vendors, and subcontractors regarding project requirements and timelines Help identify and resolve project bottlenecks before they impact production Engineering & CAD Support Create and revise fabrication drawings, weldments, and assembly drawings Generate BOMs (Bill of Materials) and support routing structures Develop production-ready manufacturing packages Maintain drawing revisions and document control Support nesting, material optimization, and manufacturability improvements Assist with fixture and tooling concepts where applicable Production & Manufacturing Support Work directly with shop personnel to resolve fabrication and fit-up issues Improve production flow and reduce inefficiencies Support continuous improvement initiatives Help ensure drawings match real-world fabrication conditions Participate in production meetings and project reviews QualificationsRequired 3+ years of experience in: Fabrication & Manufacturing in Industrial equipment and Skids Modular Systems or related industries Proficiency in SolidWorks Strong understanding of: Weldments, fabrication processes, structural steel, sheet metal, and assembly methods Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Preferred Experience working directly in a fabrication or manufacturing environment ERP/MRP experience Experience creating BOMs and routings Understanding of lean manufacturing principles Knowledge of welding processes and fabrication tolerances Experience supporting production teams directly Ideal Candidate Traits Self-starter with strong follow-through Comfortable on the production floor Problem solver with practical fabrication knowledge Able to balance engineering detail with execution speed Team-oriented with strong communication skills Thrives in fast-paced environments with changing priorities Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Opportunity for long-term growth within a rapidly growing fabrication company Hands-on involvement in large-scale manufacturing projects Collaborative and entrepreneurial work environment Why Join Kannon Manufacturing?
