JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary:
The Project Engineer leads projects from initial design through full production approval, ensuring seamless execution across every phase. This role owns all aspects of project delivery, including tooling, fixtures, gauging, production processes, routings, scheduling, dimensional validation, cost management, profitability, and direct customer communication. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in expanding our capabilities in titanium, supporting a rapidly growing segment of the business. The position offers the chance to spearhead new projects, drive innovation, and help shape the future of this emerging sector while collaborating cross-functionally to bring complex components to life.
Specific Responsibilities:
Develop and facilitate intermediate part number projects. Including part redesign, complex mold setups for solidification, challenging secondary operations, component sub-assemblies, and subcontractor selection/support across 10 or more active projects in multiple facilities. Use technical expertise to influence process improvements and manufacturing teams/leadership. Manages projects within advanced markets (automotive, aerospace, defense and/or medical markets). Support quality activities for new part projects, including creating customer documentation, resolving gaps/conflicts, and assisting with customer complaints. Apply investment casting expertise to improve performance in dip/dewax, tooling design, melt, and heat treat processes. Independently develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods through sampling, and manufacturing and customer feedback. Contribute to plant management operational reviews with the executive team and participate in company advancement initiatives. Determine process steps, tooling, gauging, materials, and supplies for efficient, cost-effective manufacturing. Manage projects to meet or exceed customer expectations for quality and delivery. Comply with all safety, health, quality, and housekeeping standards. Prioritize customer satisfaction, timeliness, and quality. Contributing team member during line down situations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical engineering field with 3+ years of experience (or equivalent experience); prior CAD experience preferred. Experience with Titanium, investment casting and aerospace/defense industries is required. Strong communication skills with the ability to read and interpret complex documents (e.g., blueprints, shop orders, work plans, customer specifications, and reports). Solid mathematical skills, including the ability to work with fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical applications. Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Requires the ability to operate various equipment including various precision measuring devices and lifting devices. Broad knowledge of tooling, material characteristics, and general manufacturing and machining practices. Familiarity with
ISO/IATF/AS
standards and quality system requirements. Become knowledgeable of 3D solid modeling (SolidCast) and NX (UniGraphics). Understand GD&T principles and continuous flow manufacturing principles. Proficient with MS Office Suite products. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands regularly; must occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds; requires close vision and focus adjustment. Work environment includes occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and moderate noise levels. Willingness to travel between plants and occasionally to customer/supplier sites.
