Position Summary Oceaneering's Marine Services Division (MSD), located in Chesapeake, Virginia, is seeking an Engineer I focused on
NEW DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
to support engineering and design activities in Chesapeake, VA. This role is ideal for an engineer who wants to create new systems, develop original solutions, and contribute to cutting-edge projects supporting submarine and deep-submergence platforms. The Engineer I applies a solid foundation of engineering principles to design new components, systems, and assemblies, working under the direction of a Mentor, Project Engineer or Design Engineering Manager. The role also requires collaboration with QA, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Test teams to transition new designs from concept through production, integration, and verification. Duties And Responsibilities Perform engineering tasks focused on new system and component design, including concept development, modeling, analysis, and documentation. Help to solve design challenges involving conflicting requirements, unique materials, and multi-disciplinary constraints. Apply sound technical judgment, creativity, and independent evaluation to develop innovative solutions. Help to develop engineering designs, models, drawings, and calculation packages. Work effectively in an
ISO-9000
environment with rapidly changing priorities. Participate in Technical Working Groups to improve design processes and capabilities. Qualifications
REQUIRED
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Ocean, Nuclear) or Naval Architecture. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CAD tools such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks. U.S. citizenship (no dual citizenship). Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
DESIRED:
Master's degree in related field. Proficiency in MathCad, Solidworks Simulation or Ansys.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS
Strong communication and organizational skills. Understanding of Finite Element Analysis principles—SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS Workbench preferred. "Self-starter" attitude that is capable of working on a multidisciplinary engineering team. Ability to apply advanced engineering principles to new design challenges. Additional Information
