Learn more at AMPSortation. AMP is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer reporting to the Operations Manager. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This role applies data-driven analysis, Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, and design for manufacturability principles to improve productivity, reduce waste, and resolve operational issues across manufacturing, installation, and field operations. The position also supports new product introductions by developing tooling, processes, documentation, and training to enable reliable and scalable production. As our Manufacturing Engineer you will work to: Safety & Compliance Promote safe manufacturing practices by ing ergonomics, workflow optimization, and accident prevention measures. Ensurepliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Support safe and efficient utilization of production facilities and personnel. Quality & Problem Solving Analyze manufacturing, installation,missioning, and field performance data to identify failures and drive containment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions. Utilize PFMEA (Process Failure Modes and Effect Analysis) and other risk-based tools to proactively prevent defects and improve process reliability. Leadplex problem-solving activities related to manufacturing, installation, and design deviations. Process Development & Optimization Develop, validate, and improve manufacturing processes to achieve productivity, quality, and cost objectives. Lean, DFx (Design for Excellence), and Six Sigma methodologies to eliminate waste and improve workflow. Design efficient facility layouts, equipment placement, and workspace configurations to maximize productivity. Continuous Improvement Lead or participate in structured continuous improvement initiatives, including Kaizen events. Develop performance metrics and monitor manufacturing KPIs to identify bottlenecks and improve process flow. New Product Introduction (NPI) Represent Operations during the design phase, focusing on design for manufacturability, sourcing, and cost. Develop tooling, jigs, and fixtures to ensure predictable and repeatable manufacturing processes. Provide technical support and training during product introduction and new process implementation. Documentation & Standards Develop and maintain work instructions, operational method sheets, and workmanship standards for production, installation, and service. Define proper assembly and test procedures to ensure consistent product quality and efficient manufacturing operations.
The successful candidate will have:
Required:
Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, including developing and improving processes that increase quality, efficiency, and cost performance. Experience in early-stage, scaling, or high-growth environments preferred. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in team-based environments. Self-driven andanized, able to manage priorities, see the big picture, and proactively solve problems. Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, flow manufacturing, and modern assembly techniques in fast-paced technology environments. Experience designing and building jigs, fixtures, and tooling. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Visio, and CAD software (SolidWorks preferred). Ability to read and interpret mechanicalponent and assembly engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and other technical drawings. Strongmunication skills with the ability to create technical documentation and collaborate with diverse teams. Experience with root cause analysis, problem solving, and corrective action implementation in manufacturing environments. Understanding of quality systems, risk management, and basic electronics/physics. Ability to travel to suppliers or customer sites as required.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering technologies, manufacturing engineering or equivalent.
