Job Summary The Senior Engineering Specialist is primarily responsible for using computer aided design tools to provide support in determining the best technical approach for developing solutions by applying creativity with design concepts. This support will be provided and following the latest drafting and CAD modeling standards and processes. The candidate will participate in the development of such standards and practices to meet or exceed industry standards for the above including 3D Model Based Design, Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. In addition, the candidate will be expected to assist with Model Based Enterprise efforts as applicable, with a proactive focus on continuous improvement initiatives. Impact of the Role General Profile Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines Solves complex problems Works independently, receives minimal guidance May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience Consistent exercise of discretion & judgment Essential Functions Applies standard engineering techniques to design, analyze, test, maintain, repair, or improve products, components, or assemblies. Analyzes, develops and evaluates systems. Improves and maintains current systems or creates brand new projects. Designs and drafts blueprints, visits systems in the field and manages projects. Applies engineering techniques and analyses within the scope of the assignment. Additional Responsibilities Planning, developing and documenting conceptual and detailed product design information by creating CAD models, drawings and schematics; Assist with Change Notice creation and implementation; Perform tolerance studies; Assist with root cause analysis efforts; Collaborate with other departments, suppliers, customers and locations as needed; Active participant in safety related topics; Active participant in continuous improvement initiatives Required Qualifications Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education ∨ Experience Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Preferred Qualifications Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree Experienced with the following: Proficient in the use of the latest Creo 10.0 and above, associated CAD file management (IntralinkWindchill) and other applicable hardware and software to perform in position Awareness of latest industry standards as it relates to model based design Able to manage priorities and complete tasks in accordance with project requirements and milestones Able to discuss technical issues and communicate effectively with engineers, designers, management and other functions Knowledge, skills & abilities: Oral and written communication skills. Critical thinking. Analytical thinking. Problem solving skills. Mathematic skills. Computer skills. Technical expertise. High understanding of basic engineering, design and drafting concepts; lead design experience a plus. Physical Requirements Must be able to remain in a stationary...
