- Job Summary
- The Tool Designer is responsible for designing and detailing tooling, fixturing, and gauges to support manufacturing processes. This role collaborates closely with engineering and production teams to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and user-friendly tooling solutions.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- + Design and develop tooling, fixtures, and gauges to meet manufacturing requirements + Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality team members, Production team members and leadership to support process development and tooling needs + Work with the product design team to address manufacturability concerns and improve product designs (DFM, Design for Manufacturing) + Create designs that optimize cost efficiency while ensuring ease of use for shop floor operators + Research, evaluate, and procure tooling from external vendors as needed + Maintain accurate documentation and records for tools, fixtures, and related systems + Prepare and present project progress reports and presentations to management + Prepare detailed documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), operating procedures, and design revisions + Perform light duty assembly tasks related to the build, troubleshooting & repair of production tooling + Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles in tooling design and development + Utilize shop equipment safely and effectively to support tooling build, troubleshooting, and validation activities + Manage tooling design projects from concept through completion with minimal oversight + Other duties as assigned •Basic Qualifications•+ Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience + Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in tool design or a related role + Proficiency in CAD software •Standout Qualifications•+ Experience with fixture design for automation + CMM experience + Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously + Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment + Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail + Functional knowledge of Geometric design & Tolerancing (GD&T) •
Pay Range:
- $51,400.
